Hello and welcome to The Stullgrapher!  I’ve been a court reporter since 2008.  I was introduced to the profession by my dad.  He was a Deputy District Attorney for San Bernardino County, California until he became a judge.  He used to see me typing 100+ words a minute typing to my friends on AIM and joke that I should be a court reporter.  Little did I know I would be one day!

I’m from a town called Redlands in Southern California.  It’s about 60 miles outside of Los Angeles.  I went to college at Cal State University Northridge and got a degree in film with an emphasis in screenwriting.  While I loved writing, when I graduated I still had this “now what?” feeling.  I think it was a lack of maturity, but I’m glad it happened that way because that’s why I decided to go to court reporting school!

I went to Bryan College in Los Angeles, starting in 2005.  I graduated and got my license and took my first job on October 30, 2008.  For the next five years I worked in LA doing depositions and got the chance to move to Hong Kong in late 2013.  I made the move early 2014!

Aside from steno, I am a former dancer for Culture Shock Los Angeles.  I started dancing when I was eight years old and it was my absolute life.  Seen the show “Dance Moms”?  Literally me.  I’ve danced under some of the biggest name of the industry and even got to be on the Ellen show and perform at halftime at a Lakers playoff game.  I left the dance world behind for the most part around 2011 because I just couldn’t balance being on a company and working, and I miss it every day.  I still take random classes here and there but not nearly enough!

I am also obsessed with all things true crime.  Books, documentaries, podcasts – you name it!  Let me know if you have any good recommendations.  I’m always looking for new things to watch/read/listen to.

Horror movies is another passion of mine.  I’m a giant weirdo, I know.  I think it has a lot to do with having gone to film school.  It’s hard for me to sit down and enjoy a movie just for fun.  I am constantly critiquing it.  I can’t turn my brain off!  But horror movies – those are just SUPPOSED to be fun.  Even when they’re bad, they’re fun.  I’m able to sit down and turn off my brain and just enjoy myself.  Foreign horror is my favorite because they push the boundaries a lot farther than American movies, but really, I’ll watch anything!  Send movie recs to me too 🙂
